With 2019 President, Megan O’Malley taking a sideways step in to the role of Treasurer for next year we welcome Fraser Towers to the role of President for 2020.
Alongside Fraser and Megan in the main executive roles we also welcome new Secretary Demi Viljoen, with Aaron Conroy continuing in the role of Sponsorship Officer.
Looking ahead to 2020 we caught up with Fraser to see where his initial thinking is as we build for another big season for the club.
“I’m looking forward to the role for next year with a solid foundation from previous years the club is in good health with football performance significantly improving over recent years particularly this year where our Men’s side made the South Island League.
One of the key areas that I’m looking to is to build on the success from the club rooms this year by bringing the numbers up at the after match events. These were a lot of fun in my first few years and they’ve gotten smaller and smaller every year, it’s sad to see. I want this club to be more than just what happens on the field.
Player retention is always something we struggle with so looking at what we could do to improve this so we don’t lose players who are still in Dunedin but decide not to play or go elsewhere.
Also finally to get more young students and their opinions onto the committee. As we are a student club it’s important the club stays running in a student focused direction to keep our unique and renowned culture.”
Registration of interest for next year are already open so make OtagoUni AFC your club of choice.
